Resumo:
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and
impulsivity. Acknowledging that this disorder poses a significant challenge for education, it is evident
that the teaching-learning process includes variables that interfere with achieving meaningful
learning, such as the presence of students with ADHD. Therefore, a focused study is conducted on
what ADHD is, its characteristics, consequences, and challenges in the school environment,
highlighting the role of the school and the teacher in addressing the issue. It is a neurobiological
disorder with genetic causes, characterized by symptoms such as inattention, restlessness, and
impulsivity. In the context of teaching and learning, it generally focuses on creating strategies that
meet the specific needs and challenges of students exhibiting symptoms and characteristics of ADHD.
Given the challenges faced in the school environment, it is necessary to provide individualized
support and create a classroom environment that minimizes distractions. It has been found that by
recognizing and proactively and empathetically addressing the needs of students with ADHD,
educators can create an inclusive and supportive environment that fosters the academic and emotional
success of all students.
