Abstract:
This study aimed to analyze the restructuring of Dr. Severino Cruz Street in Campina Grande – PB, focusing on different spatial practices, such as privatization and cultural impacts, with the environmental urban relic, Açude Velho, as a central element and the resulting impacts of this transformation. From the conducted investigations, using ethnographic methodology, it was possible to observe changes over time, especially on the right side of the street, which became a predominantly privatized area driven by gastronomy businesses, gyms, and spaces with potential usage but currently abandoned. In contrast, the left side of the street maintains its connection to local culture, housing historical monuments and hosting events that center around the street, the subject of this study.
