Resumo:
This paper addresses the strategic importance of facility location in the business context, especially in supply chains and logistics, as it is a crucial decision for operational efficiency, logistics costs, and competitiveness of organizations. Given the complexity of this decision, the study aims to map the models and methods of facility location present in the literature, evaluating their advantages, limitations, and applicability in different business contexts. To this end, systematic literature review guidelines were used, exploring both traditional approaches such as linear programming, breakeven point, and center of gravity, as well as modern techniques involving big data and artificial intelligence. The research also highlights the relevance of integrating quantitative and qualitative methods, considering the uncertainties and dynamism of the modern business environment. As a contribution to the literature, the analysis of available methods offers a comprehensive view of how these methods can be applied to maximize operational efficiency and competitiveness, while proposing guidelines for future research and applications in dynamic scenarios, such as global supply chains.
