Resumo:
In the 1988 Federal Constitution, Art. 6° lists as social rights transportation, education, health,
and also housing. However, when we observe more carefully, it is noticeable that many
Brazilians still do not have access to a decent housing, located in an appropriate place and
offering well-being and security. Aware of these difficulties, the federal government has
promoted programs to mitigate this issue. In the municipality of Coxixola, Paraíba, for example,
10 popular houses were built in 2009. These houses started the housing complex Leonardo
França Lopes. Therefore, the present study sought as a general objective to analyze the impacts
generated by the construction of popular houses in the municipality of Coxixola-PB,
investigating what were the effects of housing policy for its beneficiaries. As specific
objectives, it is intended: (1) to present the housing policies developed in Brazil in recent years;
(2) to describe the profile of families living in the Leonardo França Lopes housing complex;
and (3) identify the effects provided by obtaining a popular house. It is a case study with
qualitative approach; to obtain the data necessary to carry out the research was used
questionnaire, with semi-structured questions, allowing open answers and deeper explorations
on the individual perceptions of respondents. Through the answers offered it is realized that,
the delivery of the popular houses in the city had as main impact the economic one, analyzing
the aspects that come as a consequence of owning the dwelling and the place in which they are
inserted; in general, the residents were satisfied.
