Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the construction of the public image of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva from the activation of symbolic elements and mythic space with visibility as the media scene. For this, we assumed that the charisma, skills, personal saga and political career earned him a symbolic capital accumulated able to write over the years a narrative that became mythologized. We believe that this policy covers you around the elements of a political myth in contemporary construction. For this analysis, was considered a time frame that includes periods iconic and high profile of its public action, the period of the big union strikes the Greater ABC Paulista, the five presidential campaigns, from 1989 to 2006, and some aspects to her tenure as President of the Republic for two terms. This cut allows an understanding of political action that followed the logical sequence of events and periods that make up the "process heroificação" this political figure. As empirical data, we considered the programs free television time for Election (HGPE) presidential campaigns from 1989 to 2006, the speeches and statements of Lula as President of the Republic issued in national and international events, some official documents of the Workers Party, election campaigns and government, and has articles published in major media of national circulation newspapers such as Folha de São Paulo and the State of São Paulo and the Magazines Veja, Isto É, Isto É Dinheiro, Época and Caros Amigos.
The treatment of this papers and videos was in order to realize the one hand, as the public image of Lula and the PT was designed by himself and his team of marketing and communications during the presidential campaigns and tenure, and Furthermore, as this picture moved in these times of increased public visibility through the press. These are speeches and contents that reveal the symbolic and mythical elements used in the construction of a mythologized narrative. Finally, the survey revealed important considerations about the current political practice and its interaction with the means of mass communication on the construction of myths in contemporary political and especially how the public image of Lula was gradually establishing itself throughout its operations in Brazilian political scene and in the public mind as political myth with himself and his life story, as major actors of development.
