It is crucial to emphasize that water is a natural resource essential to the life of all living
beings, serving as a means of life for various plant and animal species, as a representative
element of social and cultural values, and even as a factor in the production of various final
and intermediate consumer goods. Having several uses and purposes in the environment in
which we live, this resource is important for the existence and maintenance of life in society.
Without it, it is impossible to have development in a given environment. In front of this
conception, the present paper aims to analyze the water supply in the urban area of the city
of Cajazeiras–PB, between the years 2010 to 2024. It is intended to emphasize the
difficulties of water resources in the semi-arid region, of the population growth, in addition
to describing the water sources that supply the city and their environmental impacts, as well
as the issues with supply. To realize this paper, a bibliographical research was used, having
as stages, the bibliographical, cartographic and photographic survey and field stages, which
allowed to approach the theme succinctly, understanding the information of the studied area,
how the supply works, which springs are used, as well as the problems in the supply and
demand of the distribution to the population and finally the construction of the work that
allowed to emphasize the problems identified in the research.
