Abstract:
This work presents an analysis of A spiritual quilombo: Aesthetics, rhythms and syncretism in the cariri of Paraíba with the objective of presenting the characteristics of the Umbanda religion, its doctrine and the historical path taken by it until it is actually seen as a religion. The research was carried out through a field survey, allowing for an in-depth understanding. The main results indicate that there is still little knowledge about the Umbanda religion, which contributes to the growth of religious intolerance and prejudice. The conclusions suggest the importance of works that present the history and doctrine of Afro-Brazilian religions, contributing to the visibility of these religions and the fight against intolerance.
