Abstract

The effect of damages caused by mechanical harvest on corn kernel quality, and on the development of the Tribolium sp. during storage were evaluated. It was concluded that the mechanical harvest reduced corn kernel quality, because increased the percentage of broken corn, caused physical damages, reduced the test weight, increased the breakage susceptibility, and propitiated the content of insect fragments. The effect of damages caused by mechanical harvest on the development of Tribolium sp. was not significant.
