Résumé:
This work synthesizes some results about the use of sugar cane bagasse as
a component to alternative material. It can result in a good building material, provided
that problems of chemical incompatibility of fiber and cement are solved. The sugar cane
bagasse fibers were selected, after hot water washing-up, and then submitted to a
“mineralization” treatment with inorganic salts (5% sodium silicate and 30% aluminum
sulphate). The main objective was to evaluate treatments efficiency by means of both
water absoption and compressive resistance tests, the specimens moulded in the
proportion of 1:2:0.20:0.78 (cement:sand:fiber:water).
