Resumo:
This research study aims the knowledge of the geomechanical and
constructive characteristics of the Itabuna municipality’s soils for rural and low-cost
buildings. Three methods of confection- adobe, rammed earth and earth compressed -
blocks with nine soils, alone or with correction or stabilization with sand, wood ashes,
lime or cement, were studied with field and laboratory methods of characterization. It was
verified that the hydromorfic soils and those of the podizolic soils and latosols with higher
amounts of clay, gave excelent adobes, provided the level of inerts (sand) were
convenient; rammed earth and earth compressed blocks gave good results, but with clay
percentages below 30%, not only with stabilization, but without stabilization or correction
too.
