Résumé:
The aim of this work was to relate the unconfined compressive strength
presented by soil-cement specimens as well as bricks and masonry panels laid up with plain
mortar. Soil samples were submitted to characterization tests and to unconfined
compressive tests. The cement dosage was obtained by means of the simplified process for
soil-cement dosage. The defined dosage 8% of cement, in weight, basis, was mixed to soil
and then submitted to compaction tests as well as to unconfined compressive tests in order
to determine the optimum moisture, the maximum dry density and the compressive
resistance. Either specimens and bricks were moulded according to brazilian rules and the
60 x 60 cm2 masonry panel was laid up with plain mortar and built with 1:1:5 of cement,
lime and sandy soil
