Abstract

Theoretical prediction of critical elastic buckling loads for cylindrical silos under axial compression has been presented as a challenge in structural mechanics Because of the difficult to adapt theories and experimental data, with base on theoretical development of Von Kármán (1941), a comparative study of his equations with empirical equations obtained by others researchers was made to bring to the engineers the choice, from the related authors, which better aply to their design.
