Resumen:
This research studied the behavior of minimun temperature of air in
Lages-SC. The data of minimum temperature of air were colected from 1925 to July of
1996. It was verified that the mean annual minimum temperature of air was 11.69 ºC. The
lowest valves occurred between May and September which varied between 7.0 a 9.7 °C;
and the highest valves occurred between October and April, which varied between 12.2 a
16.2 °C. It was verified that June and July presented the lowest temperatures and that
8.7% of these observations were below 5.0 °C. In August temperatures varied between
5.7 and 10.0 ºC, being that 9% of these observations were below 6.0 ºC. This results
showed that the Lages region, the minimum temperature of air is a limitation factor for
growth for the majority animals species used comercially for food, especially for meat
and egg production.
