Comparação entre protocolos de fotobiomodulação na sintomatologia das disfunções temporomandibulares.

Abstract

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is one of the most complex joints in the human body performing rotational and translational movements, and is directly related to the functions of mastication, swallowing, phonation and expressions and aesthetic aesthetics. Dysfunctions that affect the Temporomandibular Joints (TMJ) are characterized by localized pain in the face and pre-auricular region and/or limitation or difficulty in mandibular movements, in addition to joint noises. One of the treatments that has been gaining ground is photobiomodulation with low power laser. Being a non-invasive and low-cost treatment. The aim of this study was to analyze photobiomodulation protocols in the treatment of patients with temporomandibular disorders. The treatment was carried out in 14 individuals and they were divided into two groups, the first group was submitted to three sessions per week, the second group was submitted to two weekly sessions, both groups underwent 10 sessions. As a result, it was observed that there was an improvement in the reduction of pain on palpation, pain at rest, and increased mouth opening in both fed groups, with no statistical difference between them. It is therefore concluded that, regardless of the number of weekly sessions, biostimulation is an efficient alternative for the symptomatic treatment of patients
