Abstract

In this work it was utilized the concepts of fractal dimension and the correspondent fractal analysis to decrease the mix time for minerals utilized in animal food industry, in a more appropriate combination of the ingredients. In order to evaluate the fractal dimension of the ingredients to be utilized, it was used the method MC-D (Spadotto et al., 1996). To obtain the mix, a manual type mixer was used, and the samples after the mix were analysed by atomic absorption technique. Results indicated possible influence of the fractal dimension of the ingredients on the homogeneity of mix, with consequent implications on the decrease of the mix time and a more rapid and efficient racionalization of the process.
