Abstract

Considering the importance of affection in teaching and learning in early childhood education, this study aimed to understand the influence of affection in teaching and learning in early childhood education. To this end, a research was conducted with preschool teachers from São João do Rio do Peixe, addressing issues related to affection in the school environment. Using a structured questionnaire distributed online, responses were collected that highlighted the relevance of affection in the educational process, emphasizing the importance of a welcoming environment, the role of the teacher as a mediator of knowledge, and the appreciation of students' feelings. The results showed a significant convergence among the participants regarding the importance of affection in the development and learning of children. The agreement on the need for attention, care, and affection in childhood reinforced the practical relevance of the theories of Piaget, Vygotsky, and Wallon in the current educational environment. Thus, it is concluded that affection plays a crucial role in teaching and learning in early childhood education, directly influencing the cognitive and emotional development of children.
