Resumo:
This study aims to analyze the approach to political education in state schools in Pedras de Fogo-PB, comparing two educational institutions with distinct modalities: a civic school and a traditional school. The research seeks to identify how both schools discuss, work with, and apply concepts related to Political Science, while also exploring the main challenges faced in teaching and proposing strategies to overcome them. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach, employing the content analysis methodology proposed by Laurence Bardin. The results indicate that, despite structural difficulties and limitations in teacher training, there is significant potential for developing pedagogical practices aimed at fostering students' political awareness. It is concluded that implementing political education in the schools of Pedras de Fogo-PB can significantly contribute to strengthening citizenship and democracy, provided it is accompanied by public policies that ensure continuous teacher training and the availability of adequate pedagogical resources.
