Abstract

It was evaluated the manufacturing variation coefficient (CV) and the possible changes in the operation of the Katif (3.75 l/h) drip irrigation emitter, after two years and a half of use. It was tested 54 new emitters and 96 used, which were collected at the field. The new emitters showed an excellent manufacturing uniformity (CV=4.8%), while the used ones were marginal (CV=9.3%), resulting in a decrease of performance. It was verified that the discharge provided by the manufacture is underestimated, and that should be used more than one emitter per plant, to guarantee a better system water application uniformity.
