Résumé:

This study aimed to establish correlations among chemical characteristics of the available superficial waters for irrigation in the Zona Oeste Potiguar of the Rio Grande do Norte State, in order to simplify the quality evaluation of them. At monthly intervals, water samples of 59 sources, comprising 29 municipalities of the region, was collected during two years. It was verified that the concentrations of Cl-, Ca+2, Mg+2 , Na+ and sum of cations (ΣCAT) can be estimated from the ECiw with good accuracy.
