Resumo:
This paper aims to discuss and specify the functioning of the Psychosocial Care Network and specifically how Social Service work should be within Psychosocial Care Centers and specifically the CAPSi. To this end, in order to respond to the objectives of this study, bibliographical research was carried out using a qualitative methodological approach, whose theoretical foundations were based on the survey of references produced in the area of Social Service and related areas, with a political and social basis, based on Karl Marx's historical-dialectical materialism and descriptive research, aiming to describe the object studied and the factors that integrate it. Thus, with the development of this work, the challenges that social workers face working in the field of mental health are identified, which need to be faced and mitigated in order to promote health for these users who have lived for a long time on the margins of society without having their rights respected. Furthermore, this study simultaneously proposes to reflect on the historicity of public policies aimed at the field of Mental Health in Brazil and demonstrate how socioeconomic, racial and gender aspects influence the mental health of individuals. It notes the precariousness of services intended for the treatment of mentally ill individuals in the last century and how society, together with the State, turned a blind eye to this. It aims to discuss how the Psychiatric Reform process took place in Brazil and how it contributes to the promotion of mental health for citizens with mental disorders, who over time have increasingly gained rights and spaces to be welcomed by trained health professionals, along with treatments focused on their social reintegration.
