Abstract:
A field work was conducted with maize (simple hybrid ZEN-8568) at the Experimental Station of Pariquera Açu, Brazil. The low land area was an glei soil, with a drainage system was installed at depth of 0,80 to 1,00 m and drain spacement of 3, 6, 9, 12 and 18 m, representing the 5 treatments of this experiment. Measurents of water table indicated a variation of 15 cm among all treatments. The soil water regime of the treatments was not sufficient to promote any significant difference in plant height, percentage ground cover, leaf area index and dry matter along the season. The plants in the area with drain spacement of 3m yielded 7.3 t.ha-1 of grain, only 10% higher than the other treatments.
