Resumo:
The effect of furrow length on the irrigation system performance was
verified through a field evaluation and a sensitivity analysis, using the SIRMOD model. It
was verified that as the furrow length increases the application efficiency decreases. The
furrow length afects much more the deep percolation rate than the runoff. At the beginng
of the irrigation events, where the water infiltration is too much high, applying a discharge
iqual to 2.1 l/s, for a sand-loam soil, furrow lengths higher than 300m could have a
devastating effect on the irrigation system performance.
