Abstract

It was developed a methodology based on Green-Ampt equation modified by Mein & Larson (GAML) which allows to estimate the admssible application rate for traditional sprinkler irrigation system. This approach was performed considering the interrelation between precipitation intensity and the application tie under prevented runoff conditions. The developed methodology was applied to field data. The results showed that this methodology is promising for real field situations, mainly for those areas where choosing a sprinkler is ifficult because of low values of the constant rate of infiltration after prolonged wetting of the soil.
