Résumé:
This paper represents an evaluation of the groundwater of the North-eastern region of Brazil, considering it as a component of the hydrologic cycle. The basic premise is that the long range mean groundwater flow is obtained as a base flow generated by the aquifers systems of the interior zone and by the sum of the base flow and the direct groundwater flow into the Atlantic Ocean of the coastal aquifers systems. This flow can be transformed into an available resource trough the use of tube wells up to about 60% of the total (68.217 hm3/year). It is interesting to know that according to the studies of ÁRIDAS PROJECT, only about 10,6% of the available resource is being actually explored.
