Resumo:
Over the years, all areas have evolved, bringing with them a series of challenges. In
education, this reality is no different. One of the factors that hinder the teaching and learning
process is the persistence of the traditional method, which is based on the simple transmission
of content and the memorization of concepts and formulas. In this context, it is essential that
educators seek alternative methodologies that can facilitate the teaching process. Therefore,
this work aims to analyze how experimental activities help to improve the learning process
using alternative materials. The methodology used was based on a qualitative literature
review, in which data collection was carried out through the Google Scholar platform,
selecting articles published between 2019 and 2023. Based on the results obtained, it was
possible to conclude that the use of alternative materials in experimental activities makes the
classes more attractive, facilitating the understanding of the contents and contributing to the
teaching-learning process, evidencing the importance of this approach in the school
environment. Thus, it is notorious that the use of experimentation with alternative materials
allows overcoming the challenges found in traditional teaching. In addition, when these
activities are related to everyday life, they provide a clearer understanding of the contents by
students and motivate them to see the chemistry discipline and its aspects clearly related to
their daily lives.
