Resumo:
Booklets have been used as a pedagogical tool for some years, so that teaching- learning is
made possible by basic education students in a contextualized way, thus facilitating the
internalization of knowledge. The main objective of the work is to promote awareness and
knowledge about the rich biodiversity of plants and animals present in the Caatinga ecosystem,
especially for the microregion located in the Brazilian Semiarid region. The material was
created to be used in classrooms, helping teachers teach about the importance of conserving
this unique ecosystem. Through a didactic and illustrative approach, the booklet offers
information about the physical and adaptive characteristics of native plants, highlighting the
strategies developed to survive in arid conditions. Key species of animals that inhabit the
Caatinga are also presented, emphasizing their habits, behaviors, and relationships with the
plants. The methodology used in creating the booklet was based on an extensive literature
review, compiling the latest scientific knowledge about the biodiversity of the Caatinga. In
addition, photographs were included to aid in the identification of the mentioned plants and
animals, making the content more engaging and educational. In order to promote the
dissemination of the material, the booklet will be applied in schools, providing students the
opportunity to understand the importance of preserving this ecosystem and sparking their
interest in environmental conservation. It is expected that the booklet "ABC of Nova Floresta:
Native Plants of the Region and Animal Species" will be an effective tool, offering a more
enriching and stimulating approach to teaching about the biodiversity of the Caatinga.
