Résumé:
This paper is concerned with the determination of an optimal police for the
allocation of the available monthly storage of water in a reservoir to satisfy the user
requirements for irrigation, fishing and flood control. Techniques of mathematical
programming have been applied to the Engenheiro Arcoverde reservoir, which is located in
the semi-arid region of Paraiba State. The attained results have shown that the producer
would achieve the best profit if different areas are used for plantation during crop season
and out of crop season. The achieved optimum values for those areas, which maximize the
producer’s profit and obey the physical constraints related to the limits of available water,
fishing requirements and flood control, were attained from the application of a nonlinear
programming technique.
