Résumé:
This paper objective is to estimate the economic feasibility of coffee
growing (Coffea arabica) irrigated by center pivot system comparing total production cost
of the irrigated cultivation (depreciation, electrical energy, labor and maintenance), its net
profit and unabridged gain to the dry cultivation, at Ituaçu county, BA, in the district of
Vitória da Conquista. The trade mark of the center pivot system is ASBRASIL, which
irrigates 46,56 hectares (115.050 acres) and applies 4,82 mm of water in the time space of
20 hours. It will be used at the emergence of the grains.Analyzing the obtained results we
conclued that the higher the irrigation cost per unit of area, the higher should be the
production increase to pay back the investment. Besides we can’t generalize which is the
increase of the production to permit the irrigation of the cultivation.
