Abstract

In 1978, when the Agricultural Engineer profissional code was created, there were no restrictions with respect to earth dam design. However, in 1988, the Federal Council of Engineering, Architecture and Agronomy, by a normative decision, limited in five meters the maximum height for Agricultural Engineers to design such dams. In order to establish conditions that could lead to the revocation of this decision, the Agricultural Engineers profile and the earth dams peculiarities have been evaluated. This evaluation as well as the proposed profissional competence for the Agricultural Engineer, for this type of structure, are presented in this work.
