Abstract:
Moldboard plow consists of two parts, the share for penetrating and the moldboard for turning the soil slice. Improper design cause more draft resistance. For improving its draft performance, this paper suggests to measure its force system and locate its center of resistance. A commercial moldboard plow and one design by UNICAMP were studied. The tests were conducted in soil bin and the force system was measured by a special constructed dynamometer. The results showed that locate the center of resistance by measuring its force system may help to know the resistance distribution which may give the direction for improvement.
