Resumo:
The experiment was conducted at the Fazenda Experimental Lageado,
Botucatu-SP, comparing two vegetation management implements, the strawgrinder and the
cutting roller, on black oats (Avena strigosa Schreb.). Dry mass of the oats on the date
management and 75 days latter, percentage soil cover on the management date and then 32
and 75 days, as well as percentage soil cover by weed at 75 days after management, were
evaluated. The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized blocks design, with
16 replications. The results showed that management of the black oats crop with cutting
roller sustained greater soil cover and residue mass until the last evaluation. It also reduced
the percentage soil cover by weed, in comparison with strawgrinder management.
