Abstract:
The work was developed in Escola de Engenharia de São Carlos - USP, to
evaluate the performance of a dual-fuel, methane and diesel, engine of an agricultural
tractor, using methane gas ( biogas purified with 96% of CH4). The 3 cylinders engine,
with 2,827 liters was evaluated through dinamometric essays, with dual-fuel feeding
system developed by Silva (1995), with methane gas stored under low pressure. The results
allow to conclude that the engine fed with dual-fuel methane e diesel, operated under stable
conditions full and partial loads, and maintained high levels of power. There was also an
economy of 75% in diesel use.
