Resumo:
This works evaluates microbiological and some physico-chemical aspects in the final effluent of a sewage treatment plant of a dairy industry, suggesting its use in agricultural activities. A mean inflow of 3,02 m2/h was treated in a aerated pond followed by an upflow anaerobic submerged rock filter. The final effluent content was high for fecal contamination, biodegradable organic matter, total phosphorus, soluble orthophosphate and ammonia. This type of wastewater should beconsidered as water source for less stricted activities such reuse in agriculture, especially in semi arid regions with scarcity of water, to increase protein production and reduce surface water pollution.
