Abstract

Wastewater from CPQBA-UNICAMP is treated in a lagoon system. The effluent is discharged into a river, from which water is taken for irrigation purposes. With the intend of combining wetland and lagoon systems to improve the discharge quality, lagoon inffluent and effluent were sampled and caracterized. Measurements were performed according to Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater. Analysis results showed necessity of removal of suspended solids and nutrients and reduction of the chemical oxigen demand on the discharge. Design and operational information is given for a pilot reedbed system combined application.
