Abstract:
Many times, not only in the present day there has been discussion about the
importance of students acquiring scientific knowledge in their daily lives, as it is
known that acquiring knowledge is a gradual process and also the main key for the
student to be able to recognize different contents studied in Physics. Literacy and
Scientific Literacy (ALC) generate critical thinking and awareness in students and are
important for the formation of citizens. They enable people to understand, analyze,
and question the world in which they live, that is, in the globalized world of new ideas.
In this perspective, it is necessary to analyze some textbooks used in the classroom.
For this, the methodology was divided into two stages: deeping the theme of
Scientific Literacy and Literacy skills, and analyzing the high school textbook
"Physics Lesson by Lesson" by authors Benigno Barreto and Cláudio Xavier in order
to assess the applicability of teaching Physics in the students' daily lives. This, then,
is expected to contribute to society and the scientific community, emphasizing the
importance of having a solid foundation and scientific knowledge. The books used in
the classroom should have this foundation in Physics, allowing students to build and
reconstruct ideas based on their prior knowledge.
