Resumo:
Agroecology plays a fundamental role in the food security of family farming in the semi-arid region of the Northeast, promoting sustainable practices that increase production and conserve natural resources. This approach strengthens the autonomy of farmers, improves food quality and values traditional knowledge. Therefore, the objective of this study was to conduct a literature review on the importance of agroecology for food security in family farming in the semi-arid region of the Northeast. The methodology of this work was to collect information from scientific studies in order to understand the different perspectives, approaches and contributions that already exist on the subject in question. The results show that agroecology has great potential to ensure food security for families, but there is still much to clarify through studies about the reality of our semi-arid region.
