Resumen:
This paper addresses Environmental Education in the context of Educação de Jovens e Adultos
(EJA), highlighting the importance of integrating sustainable practices into the educational
process. The objective was to conduct a bibliographic review on the application of
Environmental Education in EJA, highlighting the relevance of environmental awareness for
the development of a more sustainable society. The methodology employed consisted of a
bibliographic survey of relevant studies and publications, selected based on inclusion criteria
(published in Portuguese in the last ten years) and exclusion criteria that ensured the quality of
the analysis of the sources used in the context of a Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (TCC) for
the graduation in Biological Sciences. The main results obtained revealed that, although there
are efforts to implement environmental practices in schools aimed at youth and adults, there are
still important challenges, such as the lack of resources and the need for greater in-depth training
of educators in this subject. The final considerations indicate that Environmental Education in
EJA has the potential to contribute to social transformation, but requires more effective public
policies and a pedagogical approach that values the socioeconomic context of students.
