Résumé:
This paper presents an analysis of the topic “That is not what the Scriptures preach: Protestant theological debate, stereotypes, and discordant practices,” aiming to discuss the main stereotypes associated with Protestantism and practices that diverge from biblical teachings. The research was conducted through a qualitative and descriptive bibliographic review, allowing for an in-depth understanding of Protestant theological principles, such as Sola Fide and biblical hermeneutics. The main results indicate a discrepancy between the fundamental doctrines of Protestantism and certain contemporary practices, while also highlighting the internal diversity of Protestant denominations. Furthermore, the study discusses how these stereotypes contribute to misconceptions about the Protestant faith. The conclusions suggest that an adequate understanding of Protestantism in Brazil requires a critical and attentive view of the plurality of its expressions and practices, contributing to the debate on theological authenticity and divergent practices.
