Résumé:
This Final Course Work aims to analyze the discourses produced in the debates held on the
theme of reformulating the New High School in the scenario in which a reconfiguration of the
Brazilian educational system at the secondary level is established. The reform, sanctioned in
2024, is a product of debates between social and political representations over time around the
guidelines established for the reform in 2017. During this period, a discussion was established
on the theme that has been the target of many debates and that has generated adverse opinions.
In view of this, our general objective is to analyze the discourses conveyed in the digital media
about the New High School (NEM) between the years 2022 and 2024. The specific objectives
are to: I) carry out a bibliographic review on the theme; II) identify and categorize the positive
aspects in the discourses about the (NEM); and III) identify and categorize the negative aspects
in the discourses about the (NEM). To meet the dimensions of this analytical-discursive study,
we structured the theoretical discussion based on the debate on the New High School Education
mediated by the base text published in 2017 and the law of the final text sanctioned in 2024.
Methodologically, this research is characterized as qualitative and descriptive in nature,
inscribed in the field of content analysis. Regarding the results, we highlight two points: firstly,
we infer from the analyzed discourses that positive and negative points stand out in relation to
the new law, according to important reference entities in our country. Among the positive
aspects listed, the “Training Itineraries”, “the articulation between training and professional
education” and the “development of skills” stand out; in relation to the negative aspects, the
analyzed discourses highlight aspects such as “the lack of structure in the education systems”,
“the lack of teacher preparation” and the “moderate flexibility of technology-mediated
teaching”. Finally, we emphasize that there is a focus on training centered on the development
of technical skills and abilities, highlighting the place of entrepreneurial training for young
people to meet the demands of the job market, underlying the discourses.
