Resumo:
Soil sustains life and knowledge of it should permeate all primary school grades,
making up school content and projects. The scope of this work is to present the
theme of Environmental Education with an emphasis on Soil Education in the
Cariri region of Paraiba, based on actions worked on in school projects. The aim of
the research was to reflectively analyse the projects Meio ambiente meu, Recicla
ECIT and Juntos pelo solos, developed at ECIT Juarez Maracajá, in order to
promote meaningful and contextualised citizen education. The methodological
aspects concern basic research, a descriptive qualitative approach, with an
explanatory case study. A survey was carried out of the pedagogical actions
developed at the school, relating them to elements of Brazilian legislation relating to
Environmental Education and Soil Education. The actions were carried out in the
first two bimesters of 2024. Analysing the projects, it was observed that interest in
sustainable practices can be developed simultaneously with regular and technical
education - so that this interest forms the student's identity, strengthens the sense
of belonging and points to a prosperous future together with the alliance between
nature and human beings. In dialogue with the teaching staff and students, it was
found that they perceive the projects as relevant and fundamental for
transformative and citizen training, within the scope of contextualised education
and education in soils. The conclusion is that projects that show care for the soil in
particular and the environment in general contribute positively to meaningful
education, as attractive and necessary actions to raise awareness among students
to seek solutions to current problems with a view to a sustainable and possible
future.
