Résumé:
Public organizations have been constantly challenged to innovate the way they provide services to society, whether due to the need to quickly meet public agendas, expand social control, advance technology or seek more efficient public management that adds value to citizens. In this perspective, universities are included, seeking to provide better educational conditions to society and, to this end, require a modern and innovative environment. The general objective of the study was to analyze the relationships between Organizational Modernity and Innovation in public services provided by the Federal University of Campina Grande. To this end, this research is based on a case study, through a quantitative-qualitative method, with a view to obtaining information using questionnaires, interviews, document analysis and observation of evidence. Through this research, it was possible to construct an innovation octagon, whose dimensions most highlighted by the interviewees were relationships, culture, structure and process, and relationships, which are identified as contributing to innovative practices in the institution. In addition, the influence between organizational modernity and innovation in the institution was identified, knowing that political, administrative and personnel modernity were those that stood out most as favorable to the development of organizational innovation. Furthermore, it was found that cultural, structural and procedural changes have been necessary to modify the ways of acting to implement innovations in the institution. Based on this information, it was possible to construct an action plan with practices that can strengthen new realities of organizational modernity and innovation in the institutional environment under study.
