Resumo:
This work seeks to understand the construction and experience process of sexual identity of gay
teachers in school institutions in municipalities in the interior of Paraiba. Having the Cariri
region of Paraiba as the research locus, our research has sought to observe the socialization
processes that occur in school institutions in that region. Considering that the socialization
processes taking place in the region are guided by patriarchal, chauvinistic, sexist ways of
thinking and anchored in heteronormativity and evaluated by the religion9s fundamentalism
Christian, we have sought to observe the teaching experience practice by gay teachers in the
school context. Making use of the theoretical contributions of sociology and through the
instrumentalization of the qualitative method, we will seek to identify the expression´s forms
and resistance of gay teachers to the several ways of social disciplining within school
institutions where they work. It complements the methodological instrument to the analysis of
educational documents and guidelines, in the sense to realize how the educational system
addresses issues related to gender identity and sexual orientation in school spaces, highlighting
the gender identity and sexual orientation of teachers. After analyzing observations recorded in
the field diary, it became clear that need to discuss homophobia manifested in subtle ways and
the subjectivity of violence, including for the very subjects who suffer discrimination and
silencing. In addition to this understanding what affects gays subjects, it is necessary to
communicate plurality within educational environments with a view to the citizen construction
of a more inclusive society that learns to live diversity and its peculiarities.
