Resumo:
Internal migration in Brazil, starting in the 1950s, driven by the capitalist system and
urbanization, brought significant impacts on the economic, political and social spheres in the
country. These processes contributed to the advancement of rural-urban migration, where many
people migrated in search of better living conditions. Agricultural modernization in the
countryside was also another factor in the withdrawal of many peasants from rural areas to
cities. This study had the general objective of analyzing the migratory process of the
Logradouro community and reflecting on the challenges that rural residents face in staying in
the community. The text is a bibliographic study, with a qualitative approach, complemented
by field study and the application of questionnaires to residents and former residents of the
Logradouro community. The study of the questionnaires will help to understand the Country-
City migration process in the Logradouro community. In addition to analyzing the challenges
that peasant migrants face when moving to cities. In this context, it is possible to consider that
the Logradouro community, located in the municipality of Lagoa, Paraíba, has become a
striking example of population emptying, resulting in the devaluation of the territory. Finally,
the importance of new alternatives for peasants to obtain the opportunity to revalue the
Logradouro community and guarantee the permanence of peasants in rural areas is highlighted.
Highlighting family farming, community-based tourism and pluriactivity as a proposal to
revalue this territory.
