Resumo:
The knowledge about statistics is fundamental to the exercise of citizenship in our society,
however, the ability to be statistically literate goes beyond, allows the subject to have a critical
attitude towards the information obtained and improve their understanding. Thus, this work
aimsto analyze how the subject of goat farming can contribute to the learning and mobilization
of statistical literacy in a class of 9th grade. It was based on the notion of Statistical Literacy
of Gal (2002), to which the model proposed by the author helped in the analysis of applied
activity, with the purpose of understanding how was the development of statistical literacy of
students. For this, a pedagogical approch was carried ou qualitative research of the descriptive,
of which from an activity applied to the theme of goatfarmingwe could verify the strategies and
elements of knowledge and disposition in the records of students. As a result, we pointed out
that there are some gapsforthe graphic constructions needing to reinforce some elements of the
statistical graphs, and also that students have analytical skills before the information presented
in the tables. Finally, we highlight that the theme drew the attention of students because it is
close to reality and shows how the activity of goat farming is so important for our region.
