Abstract:
This work stands out for the development of a didactic sequence applied in two classes
of the 8th year of Elementary School at the Municipal School “Decisão”, in the city of Pombal-
PB. The research aimed to explore the potential of football in Geography classes in basic
education, using the sport so present in students' daily lives, as a resource for reflecting on
political and sociocultural dynamics in urban landscapes. In order to make classes more
intriguing and playful, football was defined as an effective resource to address the influence of
sport and the social inequalities it manifests in spaces. To deepen the concepts and perspective
that was taken to the school environment, a literature review was carried out to overcome the
superficial view of the sport, and immediately after applying the didactic sequence and
reformulating the activity, the negative and positive impacts of the introduction were analyzed.
of football in school geography. The products obtained demonstrated that the pedagogical
approach adopted contributed significantly to the students' critical understanding. The activities
allowed students to express their subjective values and feelings throughout the classes,
revealing a new perspective on the relationship between football and urban spaces.
