Résumé:
This work analyzes the representation of male homosexuality in cinema, focusing on the
evolution of these representations and their impact on social perceptions. The study aims to
examine the shift from negative stereotypes to more peculiar and inclusive approaches, using a
methodological approach that includes narrative and symbolic analysis of specific productions.
Furthermore, this work relies mainly on theoretical contributions from authors such as Vito
Russo (1987), Michel Foucault (1983) and Judith Butler (2018). Research reveals that, over the
decades, cinema has contributed to a more complex and positive understanding of gay identity,
challenging heteronormative norms and promoting greater social accessibility. Films and series
such as "With Love, Simon", "Heartstopper" and "Red, White and Blue Blood" were developed
as case studies, highlighting how dignified and affirmative representations can reduce stigma
and influence social attitudes. The suggestions suggest that the media plays a relevant role in
transforming cultural perceptions and promoting inclusion. The study also points out
limitations, such as the predominance of productions focused on young white middle-class
people, and recommends suggestions for future research that explores a wider range of
experiences and contexts.
