Résumé:
The increased use of groundwater resources to meet the population on various
activities, contributes to lack of it, causing crises in the supply of large cities, conflicts
of use and deterioration of quality and quantity of water. This exploration has occurred
disorderly and uncontrolled in some areas causing the disappearance of groundwater
and surface water sources, land subsidence, loss of the ability of the aquifer and
seawater intrusion in coastal aquifers. In order to manage the groundwater properly,
avoiding the problems described above, it has been used applications through
mathematical modeling, providing decision makers with greater reliability with respect
to qualitative and quantitative aspects of these resources. The overall objective of this
research is to establish a mathematical model to represent the hydrogeological
behavior in part of the Sedimentary Coast of the Lower course of Paraíba River, State
of Paraíba, in order to support Groundwater Management. Through application of
mathematical behavior was established and simulated aquifer hydrogeological criteria
for granting right of use of water resources. As a result we obtained the current
diagnosis of the confined aquifer, the volume (exploitable) of the natural discharge of
the subsystem, the flow rate of exploitation by wells, the interference caused by wells
and saltwater intrusion into the hydrogeological subsystem under study. These results
show that the modeled aquifer, is in an intense exploitation, and that measures of
Water Resources must be taken to avoid compromising quality and quantitative
aspects of groundwater.
