Resumen:
This research is presented in a context of growing need for specific teaching and
methodologies relevant to the discipline of philosophy, with regard to the development
of reflection in order to obtain a critical awareness of the problems that affect humanity.
Following this understanding, this Professional Master's research in Philosophy
articulates the philosophy of Emmanuel Levinas and the theme of the environment. It
was carried out at the Padre Miguelinho State Primary and Secondary School, located
in the Cristo Redentor neighborhood, in the city of João Pessoa-PB. The general aim
of the research was to contribute to a reformulation of the philosophy teaching
curriculum in secondary schools. By secondary objective, we aim demonstrating the
importance of planning based on the ethics of otherness, specifically in relation to its
environmental aspect. To demonstrate the relevance of this theme in the context of the
growth of means that threaten to deepen the degradation of nature, which has the
effect of increasing the suffering of the poorest. The research is justified because it
highlights the need for a reformulation of the basic education curriculum, so that
environmental education is not just treated as a cross-cutting theme between subjects,
but as an education policy that strengthens awareness of the necessary changes in
behavior in relation to preserving the environment. It presents a qualitative approach,
developed through the deductive method that moves from the general (the teaching of
philosophy) to the particular (the teaching of philosophy in basic education). It is
structured from the pedagogical bias of active methodology. As a philosophical and
educational product, a guide was produced for the elaboration and development of four
philosophy teaching workshops that contributed to the development of environmental
awareness. As a result, it demonstrates that through the theme addressed, it is
possible for students to become sensitized and aware of their responsibility towards
the environment.
