Abstract:
This monographic work aimed to analyze the history of the Evangelical Assembly of God
Church in Serra Grande - PB, in the time frame that comprises 1978 to 2015. Taking into
account the hegemony of the Catholic Church, an investigation was carried out in order to
identify the pioneering subjects involved in the Assembly of God Protestant evangelization in
the municipality, how the expansion of the Church took place, and the central question was to
analyze what changed in the religious scenario of the city with the presence of this evangelical

Vainfas (1997), Chartier (1988), Barros (2005), Eliade (1992), Bezerra (2011), Monte (2009),
among others. The discussion with these authors was necessary to understand the religious
phenomenon, pointing out how religiosity fits into the historiographical field of Cultural
History. The central methodology used to carry out the research was Oral History, anchored
in the perspective of Alberti (2005). The central methodology used to carry out the research
