Sítio histórico de Igarassu: considerações sobre a educação patrimonial no Brasil a partir de ações desenvolvidas em uma área tombada.

Abstract

Focusing on the Igarassu’s Historical Site (Pernambuco, Brazil), considering the educational experiences on Cultural Heritage developed there, this paper discusses the history of this area of knowledge in Brazil, dealing with legal issues, using the current concept of the Casas do Patrimônio (Heritage House) and the educational activities recently developed in the city. As the Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional – Iphan, the federal agency responsible for heritage preservation in Brazil, its actions is discussed using its historical trajectory, political and social contexts, as well as the reflections of the heritage specialists of the Superintendencies and Education Coordinating.
